Frequently Asked Questions

How much space do you need to perform your show?
I can perform my show in almost ANY situation. It just depends on how long the show is, and what stunts/tricks will be included. An area of 10’x10′ is a good minumum. 12’x12′ is even better.
An ideal situation is an indoor space. The floor would measure 20ft wide and 15ft deep. The ceiling would have a height of at least 12ft. However! Please don’t assume that your space is too small. I have done fantastic performances in a small corner of a library with less than 8ft ceilings. It’s best to let me know what space you have, and I’ll let you know what I can do! Honestly, sometimes I like the challenge of an awkward space. 🙂
Would you rather do your show inside or outside?
INSIDE! I have performed many great shows outside, but given the choice, I would always choose indoors. I know it seems like a good idea to have a juggling show outside. There is plenty of “floor” space and virtually unlimited height to throw things.. BUT! Most of the time it is very challenging to do a professional juggling show outside. This is due to the many variables that come with it. Sloping or uneven ground, gusts of wind, bright sky, rain, snow, and tornadoes can all be obstacles. The sun in my eyes and temperatures that are too hot or too cold make performing difficult. I don’t like to complain about it, so it’s easier just to say, “indoors, please!”
We don’t have a stage. How do you want the room setup for your performance?
It’s best for the performance area to be at one end of the room. This way I can have my back to a wall, the audience in front of me, and no one sitting/standing on either side of me. Mark out the performance area by measuring 12-15ft (10’x10′ minimum) from the back wall and put a line a tape across the floor to designate the performance area. This will help the audience know how close they can come. This is especially helpful if you have children sitting on the floor. If you don’t think you have enough room, don’t worry! I can adapt to almost any situation. Just send me an email with a photo and/or description of the room. I’m sure we can figure something out.
How much do you charge?
My rates can vary dramatically depending on the situation and what services you are interested in. Send me an email with a short description of your event. Include what services you are interested in. Let me know when and where the event will happen. Also, mention who (company/organization) is putting on the event. I usually respond the same day or the next.
I am proud to offer a sliding scale for qualifing groups. Examples include fundraisers for disaster relief, non-profits, and charity organizations. Some shows can be booked completely for FREE!
I am also committed to reaching small communities that may lack the funding to book a show. I feel it’s important for families to have the opportunity share in the joy and enrichment of a live performance. Discounts are offered on a case by case basis. Send me an email. I’d love to hear from you. 🙂
How much space do you need for a juggling workshop?
The amount of space needed is greatly determined by the number of students. It also depends on what skills we’ll be working on. For beginners, there is no need to have more than a standard ceiling height (about 8ft). I usually work with up to 25 students at a time. Ideally, we would have about 5ft x 5ft of floor space per student. This means 25 students need a total floor space of about 600 sq/ft. If you don’t have that much space, or just aren’t sure, don’t worry. I have taught successful workshops with a lot more people in a lot less space. It is even possible to teach a handful of people in a standard living room. It’s always best to contact me before you determine if you have enough space.
Are you insured?
Yes! You can have peace of mind knowing that I have liability insurance with coverage of up to $1,000,000 per occurrence. Contact me if you would like a copy of my insurance certificate.
Do you juggle fire?
Unfortunately, no*. After decades of safely performing fire juggling, fire eating, and fire breathing, I no longer perform these acts. Keeping up with proper permitting and regulation has become overly complicated, and expensive. I understand the need for safety, and I feel sad that there isn’t a simple solution for artists to share this spectacular art-form.
*If you REALLY want me to perform fire stunts, you’ll need to contact your local fire chief and get them to approve the event, ahead of time. You are responsible to obtain/pay for permits. They may even require a fireman to be present at the event. I’ll need plenty of notice, as well.
What size audience can you perform for?
All sizes. I have had the privilege to perform for audiences of well over 2,000 people. I’ve also entertained groups as small as 5 people. I prefer somewhere in the middle. My show is very visual and is originally created for large audiences in a theater setting. However, small communities are the most fun. I love it when I get to see the faces of audience members and connect with them in a more personal way.
How many students per juggling workshop?
I prefer no more than 25 students per class. Less is fine. A little more is OK, if you ask nicely. Just make sure you have enough space. To accomodate larger groups, I often do multiple workshops in a row.
What is the music you use in your show?
AudioBody
One of the many things that is unique about my show is that ALL of the music I use is created by me! This allows me to create precise choreography, accentuate stunts, and drive the high-energy mood that is the hallmark of my show. I have been writing music under the name AudioBody for decades. My music has it’s own following and is quite popular around the world. I have sold thousands of albums, and was even regarded as the #1 selling independent artist in the country for a short time. It has been used in live performances, independent films, Emmy Nominated videos, commercials, and many other places. Ever seen the Extreme Diet Coke and Mentos video? That’s my music! For about 10 years, my brother and I toured a show called, AudioBody. This was a very cool combination of live music and circus arts. You can listen to AudioBody on your favorite music app, like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and pretty much everywhere music is available.
Can you juggle a _____?
If I can throw it, I can most likely juggle it. I’ve juggled swords, fire, pumpkins, iphones, frozen turkeys, battle axes, plungers, notebooks, fidget spinners, children, crutches, baby bottles, balloons, pool noodles, bowling balls, car keys, stinky shoes, pencils, m&ms, stuffed animals, boxer shorts, and many, many, many other things.
At what age can someone learn to juggle?
I’ve seen a five-year-old juggle five balls. That’s a VERY rare occurrence, but it’s possible. Usually around 7 is when I see kids start to grasp the concept. Younger children can start practicing skills and developing the coordination. Teens can pick it up fairly quickly, if they are motivated. Everyone is different. If you think you are not coordinated enough, that probably isn’t true. Maybe you just need a little more practice than others. Just like any skill, juggling takes practice. If you put in the time and effort, you can learn. Yes, even you! Check out my how to juggle video and learn right now!
Do you perform at birthday parties?
Yes, if it’s the right situation. My fees tend to be a little out of range for private birthday parties, but it doesn’t hurt to contact me for a quote. I pride myself in being able to adapt to all different types of situations and audiences. However, I’m not a clown, a princess, party magician, or babysitter. I mean no disrespect to those who are, it’s just a different set of skills. My show demands a certain level of focus. It’s not intended for a handful of toddlers racing around a living room. If you have a large enough space (minimum 10’x10′ performance area), and plan to have a focused audience of over 10 people, then my show might be a good fit. As always, it’s best to contact me to find out.
What age groups do you work with?
ALL AGES. I have performed for preschoolers, high school students, corporate events, nursing homes, and everything in between. Even… Yes, even those dreaded Middle school kids. I pride myself in creating a show that captivates people of all ages and backgrounds. Young kids love the spectacular visuals. Older kids enjoy my edgy spirit. Adults get my witty humor. Grandparents are charmed by my homage to classic vaudeville and showmanship. Every show is unique, because every audience is unique. I meet them where they are and adapt to the situation. The only age group I haven’t mastered is babies. They hardly ever clap for me…
Didn’t’ you die?
Almost! I had terminal cancer in 2020, and it wasn’t very fun. So I decided not to do that anymore. If you’re interested, check out my dark and humorous blog that chronicles the whole cancer journey. Warning! It’s very raw and NOT altogether family friendly.
Are you on social media?
